Why can’t I replace my prescription sunglasses after 2 years without an eye exam?

Written on February 25, 2009 – 11:43 am | by admin

It has been 2 years and 6 months. My sunglasses are at the bottom of the lake! I would just like to replace them with the exact same thing. The eyeglass place tells me I have to spend $$ on an eye exam first. Why won’t they allow me to just get a replacement? Can I go to Canada and get prescription sunglasses with my “expired” prescription?

With the glasses I lost, it would be cheaper to hire a diver and get them back from the bottom of the lake!

Some prescriptions have warranties, so you have to pay to renew it and get a new prescription.

Eyeglass prescriptions expire just like pill prescriptions. For example, if you walked into a pharmacy with a 2 year old prescription for antibiotics, they wouldn’t fill it.
