Can you get prescription lenses added to designer sunglasses?

If I bought a pair of designer sunglasses, could U bring them to an opticians and have lenses fitted? Or is this not possible as the lenses will be larger than regular glasses and tinted? How much does it cost? Has anyone here done this?
